nap time

yes, my child has some of lunch all over his face. hate it, but it's true...
i've been determined to take out my DSLR and take some more "non-phone" pictures for awhile now - just hadn't gotten around to it. thankfully, i had spent the day cleaning the house to find the bag hiding in a corner of my room. i took it out and snapped some photos just as everything was calming down and we went into nap time.

unfortunately, amos rarely naps these days - but we do have "quiet time" that is about 30-45 minutes (working up to an hour) of him sitting quietly in his room reading his books. he really enjoys this, and because of frequent library trips he has a great variety to choose from.

lucia, on the other hand, has been having a harder time going to sleep and staying asleep due to some teeth that are cutting (i think!? i hope!) and has been a little uncomfortable and fussy - and can't stay asleep long. yesterday i put her in the ergo while i cleaned and sang her some songs. she finally fell asleep and i laid her down on my bed. i always bunch of blankets all around her (so safe, right???) so she feels secure. i just love her little sleeping face. though everyone tells me they look so alike, to me they look worlds a part. i become so familiar with every little curve of their face - the littlest things separate them so much. when they are asleep, however, they mold into one beautiful child. their eyes are closed and lucia looks like a little amos.

amos getting tired of reading books, and sneaking off to his "toy basket"

lucia mercy @ 3 months old (almost!)

my beautiful baby girl is almost 3 months old. she's very vocal, and let's me know when she wants me to slow down and hold her. she loves to be swaddled, rocked with her pacifier for naps. and nurses in the bed to sleep for the night. she smiles, giggles, and loves watching her brother play. she's endured some amos rowdy play rather well, and i think she's going to be a tough cookie.

she immediately naps when put in the ergo, and still hates the carseat/car rides - unless i'm singing. and she will go down for naps by the end of the song if i sing "part of this world" (no joke - not sure how i discovered this) from the little mermaid. it's her magical tune. that and "Hosanna, to the Lamb that was slain," and old Hillsong classic i've been singing to both my kids since they were born.

she can hold toys, kind of unintentionally - and grab her hanging toys. she eats her blanket and the bottom of her dress if she has one on. she sometimes catches glances of her hands or feet and stares at them in wonder.

she loves tummy town on her dad's chest, and the mirror on her play gym. she's strong! and she is such a sweet delight to me. i'm so overjoyed to be a mother to a daughter.

sleeps sometimes in swing, sometimes in bed, sometimes in moses basket, and sometimes swaddled. pretty versatile

a new trick. ;)

carseat entertainment because she's certainly not a fan.
out to eat.

one year memory vault // disney land

so i'm taking all those millions of flipcam/iphone footage that i took over amos' first years.

here's a small video from amos' first trip to disney when he was so small, 3 1/2 months old!

oh and also! i'd love a fresh, daily vote from you. just click here!

because his animal pj's are the best.

yesterday, ricky gave amos a bath in our kitchen sink while singing him songs.
after getting him dressed for bed, in his animal pj's, he told him that it was time for us to take him to the zoo - so he could see all those animals in real life.

we woke up this morning, and he just keeps getting cuter, i can't resist capturing EVERY SECOND of this growing up thing.

and he is still as blonde-haired, white-skinned, and blue-eyed as the day he was born. i have to start reminding him everyday he's 50% mexican, or i think he'll forget. ;)

[even if he wasn't in the most smiley of moods]

yesterday.

i spent a good portion of the day hanging out with amos in my kitchen.
we cooked ourselves a delicious quinoa salad!
[quinoa, apples, raisins, sunflower seeds, cucumber, feta cheese, and some basil. yum!]
deep cleaned the ledges and the stove and the cabinets,
and reorganized the spices and pantry!

it was productive, and amos was cracking up the entire time.
probably because of his new friend henry the elephant and the fact that he just turned 3 months.

amos still eats his blanket:

and today he reached for his first toy and turned 3 months.
this is out of control.

iphone travels.

i have SO much work to do. SO MUCH. orders coming in, people to respond to, sketches to make and scan and livetrace and manipulate and create. i am so thankful, i just don't know when i am going to get all this time! for now it's staying up in my rocking chair with my laptop while boy #1 and boy #2 sleep.

but, before i really get going i want to share a little of my monday.

this is amos and i this morning. i'm not sure why he look so solemn, because he was having the time of his life earlier today. we don't have a tv in our house, so the only time he gets such a treat is at his grandma's house - but today i had a lot of things to get done around the house so after he got fed-up with his toy gym, his bouncer, and his swing - i returned him to his toy gym and pulled up yo gabba gabba on the computer. he was having the time of his life. i heard it's not good to let children under 1 watch TV, something about brain development - but i figured a 30 minute treat couldn't hurt much. Plus, brain development has to be easier in a clean home - so it was a fair trade.

later on we went for a drive to target and the near mall. mostly for some fresh air because it was gorgeous out - 79 degrees!!! on our way to the park he fell asleep, so i got some real solid reading time in the fresh air. when i peeked on him under his blanket he was hanging on for dear life!

while he napped i was able to drink deep. oh thank God for john piper and the Word of God!

"I shall not be fool enough to suppose that trouble and pain are wholly evil parentheses in my existence, but just as likely ladders to be climbed toward moral and spiritual (wo)manhood." - john pipers professor Clyde Kilby listing his life resolutions.

When Ricky got home we ate dinner. I attempted pork for the first time in my life - as pork loin is his favorite (yuck!) - so I got some apple and walnut stuffed pork loins at trader joes and roasted them. We had that with a delicious couscous and sweet corn salad. It was SO DELICIOUS.

After that we headed to the mall so Ricky could spend his Christmas gift cards.

Here we are in JCrew... which is ironic, because we can't afford JCrew. But hey, a couple can dream, huh?

So that's my day. It ended with Ricky giving Amos a bath, and then Amos BELLY LAUGHING HIS HEART OUT as I sang to him about his bath time. I have a video - but there's no time for that tonight. Now, off to design!!!

lovelovelove.
